Abstract

A physically unclonable function (PUF) circuit extracts unique identification data from device variability, and it is an important technology for authentication and cryptographic key generation, as a countermeasure against counterfeiting of devices, etc. We developed and evaluated a PUF chip that included several PUF architectures using the SOTB technology. We designed a prototype of a USB stick-sized board for the PUF chip to investigate practical application of the PUF and the improvement in the peripheral circuit of the PUF in actual use. In addition, we developed a prototype of a key generation application.
