Prototype Implementation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Traceability System Based on Two-Dimensional Barcode

Abstract

Objective: A prototype of the quality traceability system of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) based on two-dimensional barcode using mobile intelligent technology was designed and developed. Methods: Through reviewing the current major tracing technologies and traceability systems, the layered design of TCM quality traceability system based on two-dimensional code was presented, based on which a prototype system was implemented through web server and mobile application development. Results: This system was expected to break through the limitations of most of the original traceability systems, it can not only trace external information on origin, circulation and processing, but can also track the intrinsic quality change of TCM. Conclusion: This study provides a theoretical basis for the establishment of quality traceability system of TCM using mobile intelligent technology.
