Abstract
Estimations for hadronic σ tot pp at energies √s 20–40 TeV using existing cosmic rays and accelerator data are presented. The possibility of a precise measurement of σ tot pp and studies of very forward particle production at the future CERN collider, the LHC, is investigated.
