Abstract

A systematic study of complete identification of shower particles in jets produced by the interaction of 14 GeV protons with free or quasi-free nucleons in nuclear emulsions has been undertaken. The relative number of pions, protons, and kaons among shower particles was found to be 74 ± 7%, 17 ± 4% and 9 ± 3% respectively. Various other parameters such as multiplicity, angular distribution, momentum and energy distribution for charged secondaries have been determined and compared with the results of work at other energies. The coefficient of inelasticity is estimated to be 0.60.
