Abstract

The effects of alkyl substituents on the chemical shifts of ring protons in cyclohexane compounds are summarized. Application of these effects leads to a satisfactory explanation of a number of general features, including the variation in broadness of the resonance signal observed for ring protons in cis and trans disubstituted cyclohexanes, and in cis and trans fused bicyclic systems.
