Abstract

Abstract The NMR spectra of twenty monosubstituted benzoic acids have been analyzed completely in terms of chemical shifts and coupling constants. There is excellent agreement between experimental and calculated chemical shifts and coupling constants. Chemical shifts of protons meta and para to the substituent are found to correlate with Hammett constants.
