Abstract

Measurements have been made of the longitudinal proton magnetic relaxation of the non-exchangeable protons of 5′ AMP in D 2O solutions at 300 MHz from 278 to 333 K. The proton relaxation times are dominated by dipolar interactions modulated by the relative motion of the 5′ AMP molecules in solution and by hindered intramolecular motions around the glycosidic and the C 4′C 5′, bonds. Activation energies characterizing the intramolecular motions range between 6.2 and 14.7 kJ/mole and 16.9 and 40.4 kJ/mole, respectively.
