Abstract

This article is a survey of models used for the calculation of proton single-event upset (SEU) cross-sections from heavy-ion data. Models are evaluated using data in the published literature. The best predictions were given by the analytic models with no free parameters. However, in many cases, the models underpredict the measured cross-section, and a lack of precision may prevent a good prediction on a given device. Additionally, the data used to derive the models has not changed significantly over the last 30 years.
