Abstract
AbstractProton conductivity studies for Keplerate cluster containing compound, [Mo72Fe30O252(CH3COO)12{Mo2O7(H2O)}2{H2Mo2O8(H2O)}(H2O)91] ⋅ 150H2O (1) have been performed. Compound 1 exhibits a conductivity value of 1.85×10−3 S cm−1 under humidified (RH=50 %) and low temperature (<330 K) conditions. The water molecules, present in this system along with deprotonated (iron coordinated) water molecules of compound 1, are responsible for the movement of the protons within its discrete clusters in the relevant crystals, following Grotthuss mechanism.
