Abstract

High proton-conducting 12BaO–12SrO–12PbO–64P 2 O 5 glasses having various T g were synthesized from the melt at several melting temperatures. It was found that proton conductivity increases monotonously with decreases in the glass transition temperature, whereas proton concentrations reach a peak in low- T g glasses. The analysis of AC conductivity suggests that the increase in proton conductivity is due to the increase in proton concentrations in the high- T g region and due to the enhancement of proton mobility in the low- T g region.
