Abstract

Proton chemical shifts δH and 31P1H coupling constants (JPH) are reported for organophosphorus compounds containing the XCH2P, (CH3)2NP, CH3OP and (CH3)3CP groupings, (where X = H or Cl). In particular a comparison is made of the values obtained in compounds containing phosphorus—fluorine and phosphorus—chlorine bonds. The results are discussed in relation to a simple inductive mechanism.
