Abstract

IntroductionRadiation enteritis and proctocolitis include those enteropathies produced by the hurt of the ionizing radiation present in the patients submitted to pelvic radiotherapy. They perform a great importance for high frequency and morbidity. Clinical manifestationsThe clinical manifestations contain acute and self-limited forms with diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomits and chronic forms with rectal bleeding, tenesmus, even, bowel malabsorption. TreatmentThere areńt strong therapeutic recommendations because the limited evidence on the published studies. Sucralfate enemas and endoscopic therapy with argon plasma coagulation are postulated as the first therapeutic approach in the managing of chronic radiation proctocolitis.
