Protocolo diagnóstico y terapéutico de la agitación en el anciano

Abstract

Agitation in the elderly is reported as a major problem for the elderly themselves, for their families, and for medical team. In elderly population its causes and clinical manifestations differ from the rest of population; moreover, the rise of disorders like dementia as well as of the surgical procedures have leaded to an increase of its prevalence. In the present protocol, main causes will be reviewed and therapeutic approach, including pharmacological and behavioral measures, will be proposed.
