Abstract

Transient loss of consciousness (TLoC) is a loss of consciousness with an abrupt onset, short duration, and spontaneous and complete recovery. TLoC is very common reason for clinical consultation. Clinical manifestation is a key factor in differential diagnosis, requiring a proper anamnesis and physical examination. The most frequent causes of TLoC are, firstly, neurally mediated syncope, followed by epileptic seizures or functional disorders. The goal of the current protocol is to provide key factors in order to guide etiological diagnosis and clinical management of TLoC.
