IntroductionLong-term central vascular catheter-related bacteraemia (LTCVCB) is the most common cause of early catheter withdrawal, resulting in high morbidity, mortality and increased consumption of healthcare costs. TreatmentTreatment depends on the clinical characteristics and the pathogens responsible for the infection, ranging from removal of the infected catheter to conservative treatment with combined systemic antibiotic and antibiotic lock therapy.
