Abstract

IntroductionChronic persistent lymphocytosis is the increase of the absolute lymphocyte count (usually> 4.800 / mm3) in peripheral blood. EtiologyLymphocytosis can be classified between clonal or reactive. DiagnosisThe diagnosis involves a complete medical history and some laboratory tests; peripheral blood smear is essential and other tests, as flow cytometry, can be also used to classify lymphocytosis (clonal or polyclonal). Once the cause is established, treatment and prognosis are those of the primary cause or clonal lymphoid blood disorder.
