Abstract

Introduction: Cardiotoxicity represents a serious problem caused by cancer treatment. Nurses who work with the same variables evaluated and handled ascardiovascularmanifestations that may affect the performance of the treatment. Previously, they were no longer nursing care for cancer patients undergoing cardiotoxic therapy. General Objective: To resolve a nursing care protocol for the evaluation and treatment of adult patients submitted to cardiotoxic oncologic therapy. Method: This is a methodological study carried out in two phases: definition of content and development of a care protocol. Software definition emerged as a systematic review and a meta-synthesis. Already a plantation protocol based on the Guide for the Construction of Nursing Assistance Protocols of Regional Nursing Council/Sao Paulo.Results: The evidence on signs and symptoms of cardiotoxicity and nursing interventions was synthesized in the adult patient submitted to cardiotoxic therapy. The nursing diagnoses and interventions were mapped according to the nursing diagnosis classifications and nursing interventions. The nursing care protocol for evaluation and management of the adult patient submitted to cardiotoxic oncologic therapy was developed. Conclusion: The implementation of the care protocol, after its validation will enable a nursing practice based on scientific evidence, ensuring a better quality of care and patient safety.
