Abstract

Purpose: Post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) affects millions of patients around the world each year, but currently has no prognostic biomarker. ‘Omics-level analyses allow for comprehensive observations of cartilage responses in models of PTOA. In this study, we utilize data on the secreted proteome from human cartilage under inflammatory cytokine stress to discover novel biomarker candidates released in response to disease stress and characterize the kinetics of release of proteins from the cartilage matrix.
