Abstract

ABSTRACT Ichikawa, S., Imai, M., Urushiyama, S. and Shimizu, M., 1990. Protein transport between aqueous phase and micellar organic phase using self-assembled amphiphiles. Proc. ISEC'90 Protein transport between an aqueous phase and a micellar organic phase using a self-assembled amphiphile was studied. The minimal amount of amphiphilic molecule AOT required for almost 100% transfer of the protein cytochrome-c was determined. It was found to increase with increasing initial protein concentration and ionic strength in the aqueous phase. The amount of water in the micellar organic phase containing protein was greater than in the protein-free system. The existence of water molecules accompanying protein was recognized.
