Abstract

Herein, we present a simple method to prepare hierarchically porous Ag monoliths via calcining the preformed Ag “supraspheres” aggregation. The metal “supraspheres” are synthesized via an assembly way in the presence of Bovine Serium Albumin (BSA), metal ions and reducer. The method of forming Ag monoliths is facile, unique, cost-effective as well as flexible and can be extended to other metal and alloy monoliths. The Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) effects between Ag “supraspheres” and monoliths as substrate were compared, which indicated that the latter is much stronger than the former.
