Abstract

It is a well known fact that concentration of glycoproteins in human sera increases in a number of physiological and pathological states. We have studied the level of protein bound hexose and mucoprotein in human sera in 80 patients i.e. Normal, allergic rhinitis, and chronic suppurative otitis media cases and came to the conclusion that it is related to tissue destruction. After treatment, as new tissue is being formed, the level tends to decline and it can be a good parameter to show the effect of treatment in cases of Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media.
