Abstract

Disc eletrophoresis was employed to separate soluble proteins and esterase in mycelial extracts ofStreptomyces scabies, an acid tolerantStreptomyces sp. pathogenic on potatoes, and two nonpathogenicStreptomyces spp. Each organism demonstrated a characteristic pattern of major protein bands. Distinctive esterase patterns were also obtained, although one band of esterase activity was common to all organisms and most bands were shared by two or more organisms.
