Abstract

The present study was executed to evaluate the efficacy of coenzyme Q10 nanoparticles (CoQ10 NPs) against monocrotophos (MCP) exposure-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Albino Wistar rats were divided into 1) Control, 2) CoQ10 NPs treated, 3) MCPexposed and 4) CoQ10 NPs + MCP cotreated groups. Exposure to MCP elevated oxidative stress markers and significantly depleted antioxidant status. Besides the oxidative injuries, histological alterations in liver tissue were also observed in liver tissues of MCPexposed rats. CoQ10 NPs treatment significantly prevented oxidative stress generation and replenished antioxidant status. Treatment of CoQ10 NPs also prevented histological alterations in MCP-exposed rats. In conclusion, the results suggest that CoQ10 NPs have therapeutic potential against MCP-induced toxicity.
