Abstract

A method is described for protecting thermal power equipment and structural materials from corrosion, contamination with slag, and scale formation on the basis of making protective layers by passivating the internal surfaces of tubes using the steam-oxygen method and obtaining water coolant free from organic matters. It is proposed that the corrosive properties of water coolant be estimated from the value of the redox potential and a change be made from oxidizing to reducing water chemistry.
