Abstract
The amending Act of June 2007 has added new provisions to the Polish Industrial Property Law which deal specifically with the issue of extension of international trade mark registrations into Poland. This Act sets the procedural rules governing the issue of extending international trade marks registrations into Poland as well as clarifying the conditions under which international trade mark holders may pursue infringements of their rights in Poland. The amendment brings more clarity to the issue of extending international trade mark registrations. It fosters the principle of free movement of goods and services and enables foreign parties to enjoy the smooth processing of their requests for extension of international trade mark registration. The new provisions concerning representation before the Patent Office remain confusing, but should not pose practical obstacles.
