Abstract

The sponsors of biomedical research are powerful and organized. Operating through phalanxes of well financed lobbyists, they should easily capture or overpower the agencies that are supposed to regulate their use of human research. Yet Sharav is right to advocate better regulation, for it does work, to a degree, some of the time, and no better alternative is in sight.
