Abstract

Building on a discussion on types of social bonds, this article posits that all social bonds can be defined through two dimensions: protection and recognition. Dialoguing with the work of Robert Castel, the author further elaborates on the notion of social disqualification with the aim of tracing the identitary dimension of social bonds, even in situations in which such bonds are weak.
