Abstract

Immediate loading of implant is the placement of a definitive or a temporary prothesis within the first week of implant placement. The prosthesis connected to an immediately loaded implant may or may not be function depending upon the existing condition of the patients oral health. It has become a widely reported practice with a success rate comparable to a conventionally loaded implant. The success of an immediately loaded implant not only depends upon the survival of the implant but also the hard and soft tissue stability underneath the prosthesis. This paper narratively discusses about different factors affecting immediate loading and the guidelines of immediately loaded implants in partially or completely edentulous arches.
