Abstract

Prostatitis is a common complication of prostate biopsies, a procedure that involves the needle aspiration of prostate tissue via a transrectal approach and exposing the prostate to fecal material. These infections are most commonly caused by typical fecal organisms, such as Escherichia coli. We report on the documentation of fungal prostatitis due to Candida albicans.
