Abstract

Acid phosphatase content of saline voided after bladder lavage and posterior urethral cleansing show that the enzyme need not rest in the urethra to enter into the urinary flow and is compatible with the concept that posterior urethral urinary flow aspirates prostatic secretions. Discussion and more sophisticated investigation of urethral-prostatic flow dynamics, vital to understanding urethral and prostatic problems, are urged.
