Abstract

Prostate cancer is one of leading causes death in men. Prostate cancer can be diagnosed as local or advanced stage. Treatment options of localised cancer ranges from surveillance to radical treatment or hormonal treatment. Androgen deprivation therapy is the mainstay of treatment of advanced prostate cancer, which reduces symptoms in 70-80% of patients. Majority of tumours relapse within 2 years and often becomes hormone-refractory. The role of systemic chemotherapy in hormone-refractory prostate cancer is still evolving.
