Abstract

SUMMARY The paper discusses a psychologist's experience of being diagnosed with prostate cancer and recounts what it is like for a gay man negotiating the heterosexually assumptive medical world. The paper goes on to relate the author's transition from self-help group participant to facilitator of a gay men's prostate cancer support group.
