Abstract

raditional medicine is one of Indonesia's natural resources which has been used for many years by Indonesians, and which has also helped them to solve many health problems, and cultivate Indonesia's natural resources. PT Molex Ayus Pharmaceutical (MAP) is a middle scale pharmaceutical company that is trying to develop its business by running the traditional medicine industry. The purpose of this study is to know and analyze the prospect or opportunity of the development of traditional medicine of the small to medium scale pharmaceutical companies which in this case it is PT MAP. Therefore, there have been collecting data through library studies, visiting sites, observing directly, and interviewing related individuals. To obtain the right solution, the company uses Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) descriptive-qualitative analysis to observe the internals (strengths, weaknesses) and external (opportunities, threats), in order to support the next step in conducting the project. The methods of Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PBP), and Profitability Index (PI) are used in calculating the analysis of the feasibility of investment (investment analysis). The result of the study shows that the prospect of traditional medicine industries is still wide open, and from the analysis above it is found that it is feasible enough to conduct this project, with the sales assumption of up to 5% per year, NPV Rp. 39,148,158,00 (positive), IRR 23.41% higher than the commercial interest which is at 15% at the moment, PBP 4 years and 9 months, and PI 1.33. From the SWOT analysis, 14 alternative strategies can be chosen by the company to improve its performance, get the right market, put the right man in the right place, in order to increase teamwork and efficiency of production cost.
