Abstract

The research was purposed to find out public perception and potention towards pharmacy with women-children’s concept in East Jakarta. This research is a descriptive explorative study conducted in East Jakarta in January – March 2017 by distributing questionnaires containing marketing mix and public acceptance to 100 respondents at pharmacy and women-children’s hospital and doing Focus Group Discussion. This research showed results of: the concept of women-children’s pharmacy can be accepted by public in East Jakarta. 91% respondents agreed with women-children’s pharmacy concept and 54% respondents stated they would not going to conventional pharmacy anymore for women-children’s health needsby considering the marketing mix aspects. Because of this reason the pharmacy specialist concept had potential to be developed in Indonesia especially in East Jakarta. The pharmacist must has the advanced knowledge to optimize outcomes for pediatric patients by providing patient care to children, including providing alternative dosage forms and specialized drug therapy monitoring required for pediatric patients. Moreover, the pharmacist in this concept has a role to advocating and educating children and their families about medications, promoting wellness, health, and other activities that advance knowledge for both the patient’s parents and other health care providers.
