Abstract

A world-wide analysis of Precambrian conglomerates containing useful minerals indicates that deposits of this type are confined to long time intervals during which no sedimentation occurred along the margins of Archean shields. The mineralization in all conglomerates of this type is of a nature similar to those of hydrothermal origin. Discovery of new auriferous conglomerates is expected within the zone of contact between Archean, Proterozoic and Sinian formations around the Siberian Platform. This article may serve as a basis for outlining prospective areas on other continents around Archean cratons. -- E. A. Alexandrov.
