Abstract

Background: Conventional peroral cholangioscopic lithotripsy of difficult bile duct stones has not gained wide acceptance because of its fragility, limited steerability and the need for 2 endoscopists. These limitations may be overcome with the SpyGlass Direct Visualization System (SGDVS) which can be performed by a single examiner. It provides a disposable 10 FR catheter with a 4 direction steering capability and 4 channels for an optical probe, separate irrigation and accessories. Aims: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of SGDVS laser lithotripsy (SG-LL) for treatment of bile duct stones which could not be removed by conventional ERC.
