Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical effect of opposing needling on acute ischemic stroke. Methods One hundred and six patients with acute ischemic stroke confirmed by MRI were randomily divided into three groups: 45 in the opposing needling group, 45 in the general acupuncture group and 16 in the control group. The clinical effective rate, neurological deficits score(NDS), modified Barthel index(MBI) and Fugl-Meger assertion (FMA) were evaluated after 1 month treatment. Results The effective rate of the opposing needling group was 46.67%, while 31.11% in the general acupuncture group and 18.75% in the control group. In the opposing needling group NDS decreased (P<0.01), MBI and FMA increased (P<0.01, respectively) significantly than that in the general acupuncture group. Conclusions Opposing needling in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke is better than general acupuncture or the control group in improving the recovery of neurological functions, promoting the daily activity and the limbs activity.
