Abstract

With 300,000 hip fractures annually in the United States, the loss of functional independence and quality of life for previously active individuals after a hip fracture is a prime area to optimize outcomes. The Displaced Femoral (neck fracture) Arthroplasty Consortium for Treatment and Outcomes study is a prospective, multicenter randomized clinical trial (RCT) comparing hemiarthroplasty to total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the treatment of displaced femoral neck fractures.
