Abstract

In recent years, with the continuous deepening of research on artificial intelligence, data analysis technology, and the Internet of Things, digital twin technology has gradually become a basic subject for studies around the globe and has been widely used in construction, health care, and automotive industries. To solve the increasingly complex problems of regulation and optimization in the oil and gas pipeline industry and accelerate the construction of the digital twin of the pipeline, this paper, via introducing the development of digital twin technology, study the context awareness, autonomous decision making, and adaptability of digital twin technology used in the oil and gas pipelines, and analyzes the prospect of the application of digital twin technology in pipelines from six aspects, namely pipeline integrity management, dispatching optimization, asset management, life cycle management and so on. Finally, the energy consumption optimization is analyzed by taking the China-Russia eastern pipeline as an example, which provides reference for the application of digital twin technology in pipeline system.
