Abstract
This paper defines the implementation of domestic-based pico-hydroelectric power generation system in the multi-storage building to generate electricity which can definitely minimize the electricity demand of the building. The proposed system implements mini-generator in the path of the main pipeline from the overhead water tank. The kinetic energy present in water flow from the overhead tank is converted into electrical energy. The generated electrical energy is stored in batteries by converting the AC power into DC power by using power electronic converter. It is one of the alternative sources of energy conservation. The system was implemented in a residential building by having AC generator of 5 W. The key aim of this paper is to demonstrate practically that power can be generated from the overhead water tank and can be stored and utilized for the building.
