Abstract

The discontinuous structure of thin metallic films usually results in their optical properties being different from those of the bulk metal. High melting point metals, however, give only slightly granulated films, with the possibility that their optical properties may be somewhat closer to that of the metal. We show that with molybdenum thin films the complex index found is near that for the bulk metal and that the optically equivalent thickness is equal to the bulk thickness.
