Abstract

Purpose: propose and characterize a system for Strategic People Management in a public educational institution. Methodology: is marked by three stages. The first step is literature review for survey of documents on the theme that embase and support the work’s fundamentals; the second step consists of the case study in a public educational institution for the current survey of practices; and the third step is the application of a questionnaire to the educational institution servers in order to receive the perception of these in spite of Institutions Strategic People Management. Findings: creation of a systematic proposal for Strategic People Management in a public institution through the measures identifies by the literature review, in conjunction with the school's institutional development plan, and by the case study and analyzes of the questionnaire responses applied to the educational institution. Limitations: This paper describes the relationships among theoretical constructors during the implementation process of people management in a public educational institution.The recent authors’ small number about the subject and the case study’s nature - reduced to only one institution - preclude generalizations. The geographical and temporal restriction of the study should be emphasized. Applications: this work’s applications are based on the interest in studying the application of the strategic people management in public educational institutions, aiming at innovation and its relation with a better organizational performance of the researched institution. Originality: The practices’ systematization of strategic people management in an educational institution proves to be original. For this proposition a case study was used and a questionnaire was applied to a sample of the institution's servers
