Abstract
The bioeffects expert groups of ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) and ANSI ASC Z136 for the last six years have been working on updating the laser exposure limits for retinal injury. The respective documents by ICNIRP [1] and ANSI [2] are in the draft stage and at the time of ILSC 2011 should be available for review. IEC TC76 is to adopt the exposure limits as recommended by ICNIRP and is to produce a CD for the next edition of IEC 60825-1 with correspondingly updated accessible emission limits for Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3R shortly after ILSC 2011.The bioeffects expert groups of ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) and ANSI ASC Z136 for the last six years have been working on updating the laser exposure limits for retinal injury.
