Abstract

Industry 4.0 has changed many areas of life, among which education is one of the fields with the most impact. Education 4.0 is increasingly developing in the world, and the concept of smart education is becoming a current trend, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The application of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) in training is also increasingly of interest globally, and Vietnam is no exception. The rapid growth of Industry 4.0, and Smart Education with Smart City development and the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam, have accelerated the burgeoning of Smart Classroom. These advances have given rise to various applications in several areas of society, ranging from digital transformation to managing and automating simple tasks. Foreseeing that trend, in this study, the authors reviewed the most typical research works on smart classrooms in the world and outlined the respective research directions and core technologies to build a smart classroom. Consequently, in this study, we reviewed the most advanced works about Smart Classroom in the world and summarized the current research directions as well as the corresponding primary functions. Besides, we also proposed the Smart Classroom model applied Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things which will be suitable for the facilities, culture, as well as the Vietnamese market and education environment. Bringing these features of the smart classroom with proposed technologies and features will help teachers and students experience the technology and illustrate the application of science and technology in a close and vivid way STEM topics in the context of Education 4.0 development in Vietnam.
