Summary

Ecological and sustainable modes of transport should be the main modes of transport of goods. Promotion of railway freight transport is a key element of the EU policy. It is important to have an appropriate transport infrastructure to ensure sustainable competitive railway transport. This article analyses the current status as well the level of achievement of the objectives set by the European Commission. The article deals with the established nine corridors for international railway freight transport. The aim is to introduce different measures that should help increase the efficiency and competitiveness of railway freight transport in the European countries under CIM transportation mode. It is necessary to analyse and optimize the current railway network. Optimization solutions are used to analyse the network analysis methods. The critical path method (CPM) and the critical chain method (CCM) are used
