Abstract

Since various loads such as vibration and impact act on the bolt fastening part, the bolt may break or loosen in some cases. It is important to design for strength and loosening of the bolt fastening part. Regarding the strength design of the bolt fastening part, the basic design method has been standardized and widely spread to the designers of the field. On the other hand, there are few designers with expert knowledge about loosening of the bolted joint, and the design method is not standardized. In this paper, the design process and design method for bolt loosening were proposed based on experimentally evaluating the rotation loosening behavior under transverse cyclic loading, and the behavior of bolt axial force at the time of loading external force. Because the bolt tension increases at the time of external force loading due to the decrease in the axial force of the bolt, it is necessary to satisfy the condition that the fastening surface does not slip in the early process than the strength design. In addition, even when the fastening surfaces are separated, the axial load applied to the bolt increases, so it is necessary to satisfy the condition that the fastening surface does not separate in early process than the strength design.
