Abstract
A compact polarization modulator based on a multiple quantum well (MQW) Butterworth double microring resonator (MRR) is proposed. Owing to an enhanced phase shift in an MRR, the length of the modulator can be significantly reduced. Using polarization-dependent electrorefractive index change in the MQW, continuous polarization control can be realized.
