Abstract

Strategic managerial decisions have a fundamental impact on the company's existence. Intense competition requires managers to act quickly and take qualified strategic decisions. The liberalization of transport services in the public interest represents a big challenge for managers of railway undertakings in which they will have to make important strategic decisions. The aim of the article is to introduce the methodology for strategic decision-making and it is based on the ideas of the Art of War, on the management theory and on the results derived from a questionnaire survey and from structured interviews with managers of railway undertakings from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Croatia. The methodology is a welcome guide for managers when making strategic decisions.
