Abstract

Objective To explore the curative effect of propofol in combination with mild hypothermia for cerebral infarction in large area and provide some references for its clinical treatment.Methods 42 patients with cerebral infarction in large area were randomly divided into a treatment group (22 cases) and a control groups (20 cases).The control group received conventional treatment and mild hypothermia.In addition,the treatment group were treated with propofol.The clinical efficacies of both groups was compared.Results 5 datys after the treatment,the effective rate of neurologic deficits was 39.9% in treatment group and was 20.0% in the control group; the mortality rate was 9.1% in the treatment group and was 20.0% in the control group; with statistical differences (P<0.05).The state of consciousness was improved more in the treatment group than in the control group.Conclusions Propofol can recover the neurological function of the patients with acute massive cerebral infarction and reduce the mortality.
