Abstract

Using the contingency theory, we explore the similarities and differences between the personality traits of prophets and leaders employing a cross-sectional design to compare and contrast the relevance and importance of 15 traits commonly associated with both roles. Research finds that while prophets and leaders share many similar characteristics, significant differences exist in their leadership styles, decision-making processes, and organizational skills, suggesting that the context in which leadership is exercised plays a critical role in shaping the relative importance of each trait.
